Kiwitaxi Launches Mobile App as Pre-Booked Transfer Market Expands

Airport transfer provider Kiwitaxi has launched its first mobile application, responding to accelerating demand for pre-booked ground transportation in a market now valued at $13.4 billion in 2025 Future Market Insights.

The move comes as mobile travel booking hits new peaks. Sensor Tower’s 2025 State of Mobile Travel Apps report recorded 4.2 billion travel app downloads in 2024, with users spending more than 20 billion hours in travel applications – both records. Mobile booking revenue surged 19.5% year-over-year.

Within that growth, pre-booked airport transfers are gaining significant momentum. Future Market Insights projects that the segment will reach $38.8 billion by 2035, representing an 11.2% compound annual growth rate. The expansion is driven by international travelers, who account for 61.5% of the market, and by a preference for private transportation options, which hold a 68.4% share.

With travel costs remaining elevated, fixed-price advance booking is proving increasingly attractive compared to the dynamic pricing used by ride-hailing platforms.

Kiwitaxi’s booking data reflects the shift. Mobile devices have accounted for 68% of transactions on its platform for two consecutive years. The company reported 25% year-over-year growth in completed rides and expanded its driver partner network by 17% over the past 12 months.

“Travelers want mobile-native experiences with transparent, upfront pricing,” said Marie Borisova, Kiwitaxi’s CEO. “The app delivers that in a streamlined interface.”

The application consolidates booking, payment, and trip management in a single platform. Users select pickup location, destination, and vehicle type, then complete payment through integrated options including Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Confirmed trips sync with Apple Wallet and calendar apps.

The home screen features a Highlights section with feature updates, travel tips from Travelmate (Kiwitaxi’s travel media platform), and company news. Every trip lives in a dedicated space where travelers can view order summaries, track rides in real time, and manage transfer details.

The company operates in over 105 countries across 438 airports. Since its 2012 founding, Kiwitaxi has completed more than one million passenger transfers.

The app is available now on iOS and Android.
